Welcome to Austria, a member state of the European Union, this means 32,370 square miles in the heart of Europe with some 8 million inhabitants. This, however, also means 1,200 holiday resorts with more than 22,000 hotels, inns, pensions of all categories, and innumerable private rooms.
Austria fuses in a unique manner natural beauty in all variations - from the bird sanctuary in the Pusta to the pristine glacier brook - with its enormous cultural heritage, manifested in its wealth of castles, palaces, monasteries, and old city centres.
