Denmark Today - Lindholm Höje, the largest Viking burial ground in Denmark

Lindholm Høje - museum	On the ridge, with a splendid view over "Ålborg" and "Limfjorden" (fjord) you find Lindholm Høje, which is the largest Viking burial ground in Denmark. In contrast to most other burial grounds in Denmark the majority of the graves here are viewable because they were marked with stones and protected by a thick layer of sand.
	The burial area consist of approximately 700 graves from around year 500. Most of the graves are surrounded by stones forming a circle, a triangle or a ship. The people buried here were inhabitants of a nearby village. South of the burial ground you will find a unique field from the Viking period. The field has been excavated and today you can see how the Vikings have ploughed the area.
	Next to the burial ground the new museum is located. Visit and take a look at the findings and the many reconstructed items. Every summer Viking markets and plays are arranged and during spring and autumn other activities are on the offer.
