ENTRY & CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

There are no customs formalities on the Liechtenstein-Swiss frontier (customs treaty of 1923). Only on the frontier with the Republic of Austria are there such formalities; the Federal State of Vorarlberg borders on to the northern frontier of Liechtenstein. The entry and customs regulations are the same as those applying to Switzerland.

Passport regulations:
Citizens of the following countries may enter the Principality of Liechtenstein or Switzerland with the following means of identification, without a visa:
Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Greece
Valid passport (exception for German citizens: not more than one year out of date), valid identity card/tourist card.
Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain
Valid passport or one which is no more than five years out of date, valid identity card/tourist card.
Persons of other nationality require a valid passport. Nationals of certain states as well as stateless persons and those without documents require a visa in addition.
Swiss diplomatic and consular representations will provide information.

Residence Conditions for Foreigners:
Any foreign visitor can stay in Liechtenstein for a period of three months as a tourist.
A foreign national is not allowed to take up employment or residence without a permit from the aliens registration office and without having registered with this department.

The following, among other things, may be imported free of duty:

Alcoholic beverages (Only by persons who are at least 17 years of age):
