pm. daily except Monday. Admission: Adults CHF 4.00, Students to 25 years,
appretices CHF 3.00, Children (6-12 years) CHF 2.00, No group rates. Guided
tours of the castle or the historic village CHF 50.00. (2) Sargans Castle
(museum of the Sargans area and restaurant) Opening hours: Museum of the
Sargans area (tel. 081/723 65 69) 9:30-12:00 am./1:30-5:30 pm. daily. Restaurant
(tel. 081/723 14 88 or 723 69 85) (various historical rooms) 9:00 am.-11:30
pm. Tuesday through Sunday. Closed from 5:00 on Monday. The museum and the
restaurant are closed from November 12th. to March 20th. Admission (Museum): Adults
CHF 4.00, Children CHF 2.00, Groups (of 13 and more) CHF 3.50. (3) Brandis
Castle, Maienfeld (restaurant, tel. 081/302 24 23) Coffee break or snack
at the tower restaurant or gourmet meal at the Rittersaal (hall of knights) or
at the reception room followed by return trip through the Grisons, via St. Luzisteig
(maximum height of bus 3.10 m) to Liechtenstein.
Walzenhausen
(about 60 km/37 miles) An ideal excursion and popular resort in the Appenzellerland,
where three countries meet, above lake Constance and the Rhine valley. Beautiful
views over the lake, marshland, the Vorarlberg onto the Tyrolean Alps in the East
and in the West, beyond the city of Constance towards the Black Forest - Joke
Trail (Tourist office, tel. 071/888 2470) Cogwheel train: Rheineck - Walzenhausen
(Dorf 675 m/2215 ft.). Route: Vaduz-Haag-Oberriet-Au-St.
Margrethen-Rheineck-Walzenhausen (Dorf)-possibly halt on the panorama terraces
of the hotel Walzenhausen (Platz)-Widnau-Diepoldsau-oberriet-Haag-Vaduz.
