HIKING IN LIECHTENSTEIN

Every community in Liechtenstein has its own network of walking and hiking routes. Malbun and Steg are ideal starting points for beautiful mountain tours. Gaflei and Planken are departure points for the well-known "Drei Schwestern" area.
Marked rambling and hiking routes: 160 km.(100 miles) in the alpine area, 240 km.(150 miles) in the valley.

Suggested Hikes - "Liechtensteiner Unterland" (Lower Country): Departure point: Route/time needed: Nendeln To Planken Nendeln post office - Oberstädtle - Forest path to Nendler landslide - narrow mountain path, moderate incline (Brunnenbühl) through forest to Planken / 1 hour. Schaanwald To the Paulahütte Schaanwald post office - nature trail route: right at fork - forest track 8 bends to Paulahütte (1008m(3307 ft.) / 1 1/2 hour. Route back Paulahütte - cross road - ancient route south through thick fir forest - to Rubsteg (mixed forest) - forest way - gravel way - departure point / 1 hour. Eschen To the prehistoric settlement sites Village center - St. Martinsring - Sennereigaassli - Schoenbühl - Boja - Malanser meadow - Malanser - place of cult Schneller - Lutzengütle - (information boards) - return route via Aspen and Muessnen / 3/4 hour. Mauren To the ruins of the obere (upper) Burg Schellenberg Parish Church Mauren - Rennhof - two small forest streches - view of the ruins of the "Obere Burg Schellenberg" - small pathways to the "Obere Burg Schellenberg" / 1/2 hour. Bendern To Rofenberg Bendern church hill - ancient way over flat area (pilgrim's route/Wallfahrtsroute and Salzstrasse) via Plattengasse - Widagass - Rofenberg - Eschen / 1/2 hour.
